New Tech Toy: HTC One

Soon to be released on March 22nd (and now available for pre-order) through Rogers, Telus and Bell, the HTC One is definitely one of the sleekest looking phones on the market for the foreseeable future. On aesthetics alone it’s comparable to the iPhone 5 and BlackBerry’s Z10.

But as they say “looks aren’t everything” so here are the specs:

The big question is how does it compare to the most anticipated Android device this year: the Samsung Galaxy S 4? The answer may surprise you. According to most reviews out there the HTC One absolutely blows the Samsung Galaxy S 4 out of the water. But you don’t need to take my word on it. Below are some reviews on the HTC One as well as on the Samsung Galaxy S 4.

Quickly moving to the edge of a large block of data in Excel

If you work with large spreadsheets you will find yourself using the scroll bar to move to the top or bottom of a column.   A quicker way to move around in a large spreadsheet is to use keyboard shortcuts.

You may have discovered that using Ctrl+ an arrow key will move to the last cell with data in that direction.  So Ctrl+<Down Arrow> moves  the active cell down to the last cell before an empty cell and Ctrl+<Right Arrow> moves the active cell right to the last cell before an empty cell.

There’s a mouse alternative to these keyboard shortcuts.  Let’s say you are at the top of a large spreadsheet and the active cell M4. You want to move to the bottom of column M.  Move the mouse pointer to the bottom edge of the active cell where you would go to drag if you wanted to move the cell.  Instead of dragging, double-click.  Excel moves down to the last cell before an empty cell.

These shortcuts work best with columns or rows that contain very few, or no, blank cells because they both move the active cell to the cell before an empty cell.  If your row or column contains lots of empty cells switch to a column or row that doesn’t or use the scroll bar.
